Without the discriminative intellect or prajna imparted by him, no one can hope for Self Actualisation. He represents the Sreyo Marga ( the way of Being and of Bliss ) and Venus represents the Preyo Marga ( the way of Mammon and the flesh ). Both paths are followed by mankind !

Yoga Sastra, Nyaya Sastra, Neethi Sastra, Vedanta Sastra, Jyothis Sastra and all such sciences are ruled by Jupiter or Brihaspathi. Sasanath Thrayathe ithi Sastram - meaning that Redeeming instructions are called Sastras ( like fatherly advice to a son ). Hence Jupiter or Brihaspathi is the greatest benefic, from the perspective of Self Actualisation. He represents Grace Divine, without which no Self Realisatoin is possible.

Love is a manna sent from Heaven, a spark of the Immortal Fire, sent by the Lord to elevate our low desire ! Let Almighty Love triumph on earth !

Milton's " It is better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven " is Venusian or Shukra Neeti and is widely followed by politicians, mafia chiefs, the priesthood and the captialists !

In Mythology Indian, Venus or Sage Shukra was born to Bhrighu and Usana. He was born on the day of Freya or Venus, Friday. He was born in the constellation of Swathi. Freya is Venus in Norse Mythology and Freya's day became Friday. Shukravar is Friday and is named after Shukra. Shukra was sent to learn the Vedas from Angiras, who was partial to his son, Brihaspathi. However, Shukra learnt the Vedas from Gauthama. He later performed penance to Lord Shiva and obtained the Sanjeevani Mantra, a mantra which can resurrect the dead.

When Jupiter or Brihaspathi became the Guru of the celestials, Shukra competed and became the Guru of the demons ! He exhorted the demons to win the war against the celestials !

When King Bali was tested by Lord Vishnu in the form of the dwarf Vamana, Shukra immediately knew of the deceipt and warned King Bali. He sat in the spout of a vase, which was spotted by Lord Vishnu. Vishnu picked a straw from the ground and directed it on the spout, with the result Shukra became half blind !

Shukra corresponds to Machiavelli. Machiavelli opined that to be feared is better than to be loved. ( "Love is preserved by the link of obligation which men in their baseness break off at every opportunity for their own advantage, whereas fear preserves you with the dread of punishment which never fails " ). Machiavelli opined that men are base and ugly. ( " This has to be asserted in general for men, that they are cowardly, covetous, ungrateful, fickeminded and false and as long as you succeed, they are yours entirely"). Armed prophets had succeeded, whereas the unarmed had failed !

The Jesus and Machiavelli of Western thought, both dialectical opposites, correspond to Brihaspathi and Shukra of Indian thought !

Shukra in Sanskrit means brightness, clearness, purity. These mythological figures are planets and Vedic Symbolism was used by the Rishies. Astrologically, he represents the mundane arts and the mundane sciences, whereas Jupiter or Brihaspati represents the divine sciences and the divine arts.

The Malayalam Agri Calender has it that the Sun transits the 27 constellations of the Ecliptic and these came to be known as the Njattuvelas. The word Njattuvela is derived from Njayar meaning the Sun and Velas meaning the Times. In short Njattuvela means the Times of the Sun, as it passes through the 27 constellations of the Sidereal Zodiac.

Wisdom ( Vidya ) comes disguised as a woman and tells the scholar not to teach Wisdom to the undeserving

Impart Me, Wisdom, to the deserving - to donators of wealth, celibates, to the intelligentia and those seek the Vedas !

In fact there are verses which ban imparting knowledge to the arrogant, to the atheist. If imparted, it will end only in sorrow !

Na deyam para shishyaya nasthikaya shadaya cha
Datteyam Prathi dinam dukham Jeevithe natra samsaya

In Free Masonry also, "this science can only be taught to suitable and worthy men, because the misuse of it and the powers arising from it, is conducive to general and personal evil".

It is said that the Initiates knew that this Wisdom is unfit and dangerous to the ordinary human mind, and will suffer loss of virtue and purity, if revealed to vulgar and impure spirits. Hence they devised an outer system - that of temples, mosques and churches - efficient, but imperfect for the profane ! Initiate knowledge is only for those purified in Soul and awakened in Spirit !

Intellectual Mysticism

Intellectual Love or Amor Intellectualis is said to be the greatest quality. This quality is called Vibhakthi in Sanskrit. The mysticism which deals with Vibhakti is called Intellectual Mysticism.

We find many parallels in Walt Whitman and the poet Melpathur ( of Narayaneeyam fame ).

Vibhakti is Vedantic bhakti. The poet Melpathur was a great scholar in all the twelve sciences of Wisdom and he was a made poet like Milton. He had lived laborious days in mastering the twelve positive sciences - six auxiliary and six main - and he had consecrated himself to the Divine. He was the Milton of India ! He was a philosopher,scholar, poet and astrologer.

The Absolute Self of transcendental philosophy is the actual Godhead and the philosopher knows that Thee is Actual Me !

Walt Whitman said

I shrivel at the thought of Self
At Nature and Her wonders, Space, Time and Death
Then I turn to Thee, O Actual Me !

Alchemical Allegory

The story of Jesus is an alchemical allegory.

In Alchemy, there are seven stages ( These correspond to the Seven States of Consciousness of SCI & TM ).

Sanctification
Purification
Putrefaction
Fermentation
Combustion
Regeneration
and
At-One-Ment

After the first two steps of Sanctification and Purification, the aspiring soul goes through the stages of Putrefaction, Fermentation and Combustion.

These three are the processes of Chemisty, which is derived from Alchemy. The founding fathers of Chemistry were all alchemists, those who trasmuted baser metals into gold. Converting copper or lead to Aurum is theoretically possible. You can change the atomic number of any element by proton bombardment.

The aspirig soul has inner tumults and agitations and these are represented by these three processes.

Combustion is Passion, the Passion of the Redeemer. Combustion is crucifixon, wherein the rebounding karma catches the aspirant unawares.

The question is asked why an aspirant is always carrying the Cross. Arent you a fool to carry the Cross all the time? The answer is that it is a paradoxical state of pain and Bliss. On the Cross, the fifth stage of Alchemy, the soul acquiesces in the Universal Will and welcomes the Divine Will with bliss.

The next stage is Regeneration. Free Masons and Rosucrucians are all alchemists and they admit that Alchemy is derived from the Vedists of the East.
The final stage is At One Ment, at One with the Universal, which is also the purpose of Yoga.

He had studied hard, studied every portion of the Bible. He was blind and his life was immense suffering. So was Tasso's. So was Dante's.

Every Thesis has an Anti Thesis and handling both arguments is called the Dialectical Process. All lawyers know this, all politicians as well as Rishies.

Charvaka was a Rishie, yet an atheist. There is no God in Buddhism, yet it is a formidable system. Atheism, Agnosticism ( Buddhism ) etc adorn Indian Philosophy. A Hindu can be an athiest, he can be an agnostic, he can be a Shoonyavadi ( Buddhist ) or a Poornavadi ( Vedantin ) without being excommunicated like in other civilisations. This is the broadmindedness of Indian Philosophy.

Inimical Mysticism

Hatred is inverse Love. This is the rationale of Vidwesha Bhakthi or Inimical Mysticism.

The doctrine of Inimical Mysticism is that the Lord is the doer and the devotee has his rights to question the Lord when he subjects his devotee to suffering !

Yada vairanubhandena martyasthanmayamapi tat
Na tadha bhakti yogena, iti me nischita mati

Not even Bridal Mysticism can get the benign effects of Inimical Mysticism. It is said that Kamsa and Ravana got Moksha earlier than the Yogis who extolled him. In hatred there is more emotional attachment than in love. Kamsa and Ravana were always thinking about their Grand Enemy. That is what the Yogis were contemplating, as they contemplated Being Knowledge Bliss !

Milton began the Paradise Lost by saying

That I may assert Eternal Providence
And justify the ways of God to man !

But then his famous statements through Satan were " It is better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven" and "Eternity so spent in worship paid, to whom we hate". Satan became the unconscious hero of Paradise Lost and Milton could not redeem God with Paradise Regained ! The voice of Satan was Milton's own, craving for liberty and abhorring the absolute monarchy of God !

Providence ( Jupiter in the House of Fortune ) saved India yet again. Master Batsman Sachin Tendulkar got Man of the Match Award for his blistering 85, but then he had as many as six lives.

Four Paki fielders let him off, Misbah, Y Khan, Afridi and Akmal. He survived two close calls for blw and stumping. Today was his day.

Let us see the astrological factors.

Yesterday was Dhanishta, his kshema tara or 4th star or Lucky Star. But Dhanishta, which ruled for 57 Nadis ( 23.5 hours ) or right throughout the day was not so good for India or Dhoni. For Dhoni, it was his vipat tara, or adverse star. Hence the nervousness of the Indian spectators and viewers !

For Sehwag, this was his sampat tara or favourable star. Even though he scored only 38, he hit the premier Pak bowler, Umar Gul, for five fours in one over. He hit Gul off his length !

When we analysed, we knew that some factors were adverse and we did remedial measures to overcome those adverse factors. We knew that the Transit positions of Jove and Saturn are benign and so ultimately India will triumph. ( As for me, I fasted in the afternoon, as I badly needed an Indian triumph. I indulged in prayers and meditation right throughout the day and relief came from tension at 1000 PM ).

For Pak, the transits of Jupiter and Saturn are not so benign. Jupiter in the Tenth is Dasame Darika Vadham or adverse for their Ego. Saturn in the 4th is also disconcerting and affected their batting performance in this WC. Not even one Paki batsman had scored a century and they were reckoned formidable because of their excellent bowling !

On 25th, Mars moved over to Pisces, ending some bad luck for India. After then Indian bowling became efficient and fielding improved. Indian fans were afraid that bowlers and fielders might put Sachin & Co down ! But in the QF and SF, Indian bowling and fielding rose to the occasion. The mighty Australians were restricted to 260 in QF and in SF, Pak were bowled out for 231 !

To make one revolution of the earth, the moon takes 27.3 days . Since, as the earth has motion and has moved in the heavens, it takes further two days to catch up with the earth. ( Full moon-new moon lunar cycle takes 29.5 days.

The moon's orbit around the Earth is elliptical, and its orbit is inclined at 5.14 deg to the elliptic (earth's path around the sun) with a substantial eccentricity of 5.49 percent (earth's is 1.67 per cent). The Moon at Super Full Moon will be at 217 K kms and at Apogee it is more than 300 K. A difference of more than 100 K kms. The Moon will be Full when it is near Perigee and will appear brighter. Yesterday Moon was a great sight in the heavens.

Jupiter in Pisces will see to that the Earth is not harmed. The Sun Moon
Opposition takes place in Pisces/Virgo and Jupiter is there, posited in
Pisces. Hence we dont see any devastation happening on the 19th in US and
20th in India !

Should one worry about the Super Moon? NO!

The Super Full Moon occurs when Sun is in Pisces and Moon comes diametrically opposite at ( 180 degree from the Sun's longitude ) Virgo. This is the Full Moon, the Pournami of Indian Astronomy.

Now Jupiter in Pisces is the Redeeming Grace. Jupiter, the indicator of Divine Grace will save this planet from catastrophes.

Some devastation has already taken place, as the Tsunami hit Japan on the 11th. Still Japan is in a mess. Burning nuclear rectors , earthquakes and tsunamis ravaged Japan and Japan looks like a devastated area.

Jupiter is the divine planet, the wisdom planet and He will not allow this planet to be destroyed !

It will not be the end of the world, as some Doomsday theorists make out. Vedic Astrology does not support Doomsday theories. The sum total Energy in the Universe is a constant and cannot be destroyed ! So no end of the world !

One need not bother unnecessarily about this phenomenon. There were Doomsday theories that the world was going to end in 2000 ! ( There was one grand father of Pongo Twistleton in Wodehouse, who gave all his shirts and pants to a passerby, saying that the end of the world was coming at 1030 AM sharp ! ).

The Super Moon is a Full Moon. The Super Moon is a term coined by the astrologer Richard Nolle.

Yesterday, there was an earthquake in Japan, measuring about 6 on the Richter scale. Japan is devastated by explosions in nuclear reactors, earthquakes and tsunamis or harbour waves !

In 2005, Tsunami struck fifteen days before the Super Moon date. This time almost one week before.

Some astronomers, who decry Astrology, says there wont be much problem during this phenomenon of Extreme Super Moon.

The Sensex rose, when the FM announced that FII investment is welcome in Mutual Funds. This will pave the way for billions coming in to the mutual funds sector.

The Sensex rose 623 points yesterday, an inordinate rise. Experts feel that more dollars will find its way into the Indian stock market.

The Budget was said to be populist, but it will not hurt Industry. It comforts the middle class man ( IT limit increased to 1.8 lk ) and Industry.

On the whole, an industry friendly budget and the initial euphoria has led to the inordinate rise of the Sensex !

The FM has done a balancing act, he has to please both Industry and the Common Man.

Ridham Desai, the MD, Morgan Stanley India, said that the move to allow global investors in mutual funds is very positive. Another positive factor is the infra spending of 27% more. He expects a positive impact of 50-60 bps on earnings. He expects the markets, Sensex and Nifty, to perk up by a furthur 20%.

"I think the budget was okay, there was nothing bad in the budget. I guess market expectations were a little bit on the lower side. So, I think there is a sigh of relief that there is nothing untoward in the budget.

I think he has done a decent balancing act. There were a lot of constituencies to serve. I think there is a bit of skepticism on the numbers, maybe the revenue side is a tad aggressive and on the subsidy side, he has been maybe a little bit too aggressive on the downside. So, maybe eventually he is going to have a tough fight on his hand to meet these numbers.

But apart from that, I think there were a few positive takeaways, which the market I don’t think has immediately paid attention to, I don’t see a lot of investors have paid attention to it. This whole thing about the Nandan Nilekani Committee is a very positive signal. The move to allow foreign individuals to invest in domestic mutual funds is positive.

I think there is a fair bit of infrastructure. If we look at the split of expenditure, he is budgeting for a 27% increase in infrastructure spending. Now, in a budget where overall spending is rising 3.5%, that is a huge skew towards a particular sector in terms of spending. Ofcourse the skeptics will come back and say but he didn’t do it last year, he had spending increased last year and he underdelivered. But the fact is that he has chosen to discriminate all his spending basket. He has picked out infrastructure for his spending, which I think is the key area where we need the spending.

So, he is doing the right things. Now, it is all down to execution. It is easy to stand up now and say, “They will not execute and be skeptical about it.” I think the other way of looking at it, which is my way of looking at it, is we will see we will wait and watch and give them the benefit of doubt right now and come back late to check whether the executions have happened or not. So, I am reasonably okay with the budget. I think it is pretty okay for the market."

"The market interest rates, to me, at various levels look like we are almost done. The only caveat here is what happens to oil. In 2008, when oil went up, we responded with the very sharp increase in rates. If oil does go up to USD 130-140 per barrel then that may have some implication on short-term rates. Otherwise, I think deposit rates we are mostly done, lending rates may go up a little bit. The RBI definitely needs to move a little bit maybe another 75-100 bps over the next nine-twelve months, but not a lot left on short rates. I think we are dealing with almost peak rates across various market interest rates."

Till May 6, Jupiter will be in Pisces, in the 9th. The World Cup, therefore, will take place when Jupiter transits the 9th. Saturn will be in the favourable third. The only negative factor is that Mars will be moving over to the 8th, on 20th March. So things are looking good for India ! There may be slices of bad luck after 20th March.

Jupiter was in the Fifth, a favourable house, in Scorpio when India won the 1983 World Cup.

Imran Khan, the former Pak skipper, was on TV yesterday contradicting Petersen's view that the WC longish schedule is negative.

On the other hand, it is positive, he feels. The greatest threat a team can face is injuries. He cited the example of the Pak defeat in the 1987 final, when their 3 major players were injured.

There is a theory that India in 1983 had nothing to lose, as they were written off as underdogs, and hence they performed well, as they played without pressure. They were not a star studded side, like the present one, and was a team of bits and pieces players. Bits and players players are players capable of taking one or two wickets, and can score 30/40 runs. Not people who score 200 not out !

The present Indian team is star studded, with a lot of watchwinners. Sachin is the top scorer in ODIs with 200 no against SA, we have Yuvraj who created a record in the T20s by hitting six sixes in an over ( overtaking Sobers' and Shastri's performances, which was only in county cricket ), an explosive batsman in Sehwag and a blitzkreig batsman in Y Pathan. More experienced is this team than the 1983 squad. The only enemy India will face is pressure. As Trevor Bailey used to say " It is the situation". It is pressure which will be the no 1 enemy. Look at Pathan's last innings. When India were 113/8, the game was almost over. And Yathan played without any pressure. When he scored a hundred with 8 sixes and 8 fours, then pressure crept in. There was a chance for India to win and then when pressure came, he got out, giving the match on a platter to the South Africans !

It is easy for Dhoni to say he will change pressure into responsibility. If Indian players do not perform well, they would have let the 1 billion Indians down. They are playing before a 100,000 crowd, watched avidly by miliions of cricket crazy Indians. There is tremendous pressure on all teams, but more on India. When everybody thinks that India is favourite, pressure becomes enormous. But then, India are on their home ground and home ground advantage can be benign !

India's strength lies in her spinning allrounders. Yuvraj, Pathan, Sehwag, Sachin, Raina all can bowl and they are fairly well experienced. Another factor in their favour is the position of the heavens. Jupiter in Pisces is in the 3rd in India's national horoscope. Saturn in the 3rd is a redeemer !

Climate Change in Kerala felt

Climate Change, wrought about by Global Warming, has had its impact on Kerala.

The Solar transit of Alpha Aquilae is on. From Feb 6th onwards, the Sun will transit Alpha Delphini ( Dhanishta or Avittam ).

The longish North East Monsoon, and the retreating coldness which came later, saw the temperature rise in Kerala. Now it is 35 degree Celsius. In Palghat, 38 degrees were recorded.

Cold ocean winds reduce the heat. These winds have started operation quite earlier than last year.

Hot air rises high in the atmosphere and the cold winds from the ocean fill this void. These winds are there from 1100 AM onwards, coming from the Bay of Bengal. These winds reduce the temperature of the land.

Intense heat is beginning to be felt in Trichur and Palghat. Irrigation has been started in agri lands and this time it was started earlier than usual. Normally irrigation start from the sidereal month of Sagittarius or Dhanus ( from 15 Dec onwards ).

Even though rains have been above the average last year, still potable water problem will persist. From the latter half of February onwards these winds will retreat, making Kerala a very hot place ! Palghat may record heat more than 40 degrees Celsius ( the highest temp recorded last year ).

It is relief for Keralites that the dusty Palghat winds have not strengthened now. Diseases are propagated by these winds.

The current climate - because of the longish monsoons - is favourable for mango trees now. But then if the winds acquire more power, tender mangoes and flowers will fall.

There are reasons for the premature heat experienced now. Climatic changes and the changing rhythms of Kala Varsha ( South West Monsoon ) and Thula Varsha ( North East Monsoon ) are the causative factors. The South West Monsoon exited only after 27 days than normal. The North East Monsoon gave rains till the 15th of December.

Once the rains retreated, cold climate was felt till mid Jan.

Rising temperature has been reported in Kerala. The annual temperature is rising, according to the stats from Trichur, Trivandrum and Kottayam centers. The temp of the water on Trichur paddy fields in now 35 degrees Celsius. The normal temp is 30 degrees.

The summer rains which come in March and April keep the temperature stable in Kerala. Heat comes down in the rain falling areas. But then this will not solve the potable water problem. To the drinking water problem, Rainwater Harvesting has been recommended as the solution.

A Journey through the Six Seasons of India

The sidereal months of Sagittarius and Capricorn constitute Hemanta Rithu. The coldness has not left Kerala. This Hemanta Rithu will be there till the 12th of February.

Sisira Rithu, the sidereal months of Aquarius and Pisces, is very hot indeed. It normally starts from the 13th of February to the 13th April ! During this sixth season of India, hot spells are normal and more than 100 people perished last year due to sunstroke.

Now it is still cold in the morning and even during midday. No need for air conditioners during this season.

Evening is also characterised by cold winds. The Sun will be transiting Sravana, Alpha Aquilae, initiating Thiruvonam Njattuvela tomorrow.

Amongst the six Rithus or seasons, Vasanta ( Medam & Edavam ) is comparitively less hot, Greeshma ( Gemini and Cancer ) and Varsha ( Leo and Virgo ) are rainy seasons, Sarat ( Libra and Scorpio ) is less rainy, Hemanta ( Sagittarius and Capricorn ) is cold and dry and Sisira ( Aquarius & Pisces ) is very hot indeed !

Correspondence between Music and Art

It so happens that dusk, dawn, the season, the nature, the lightning, the thunder - all these affect the mood of Man. This mood gives rise to Rasa and every possible Rasa in connection with these circumstantial surroundings has been found to be conveyed through Raga. The world of Ragas, therefore, has all the variety of Life and experiences of Man. This is so true of Indian Music. Seasons or Rithus are a dimension of the vast game of Life and Creation !

The Six Seasons of Indian Philosophy are ruled by Planets

For instance,

Vasanta Rithu is ruled by Venus
Greeshma by Mars and Sun
Varsha by the Moon
Sharath by Mercury
Hemanta by Jupiter
Sisira by Saturn

The Law of Correspondences state that the Six Seasons are related to the six Chakras, according to Kundalini Yoga. The Highest Chakra, the Sahasrara, the Thousand Petalled Lotus, is beyond Time and transcends everything. The lower six Chakras get mildly activated during the six seasons -

Sisira Rithu ( Kumbha & Meena ) is also the mango season, when mangoes are plenty in Kerala. Mangoes are used in Fish curry, in pickles and in all curries. Mango is a substitute for tamarind in curries. Mango pickles are of many types. Tender mangoes make excellent pickle and are known as Vadu Mango Pickle. Cut Mango pickles goes by the name Chethu Manga. Mangoes are dried and pickled. Ripe mangoes are eaten. With red chilli poweder, ripe mangoes are an excellent dish. Special type of pickle comes from Andhra known as Avakkai.

Tender mangoes are also pickled in brine.

India leads in the production of mangoes. 13.5 million tonnes. China is second at 3.7 million tonnes. Mango is a fruit indigenous to the Indian subcontinet and is the national fruit of India, Pakistan and the Philippines. The word mango is derived from the Malayalam manga .

Widely used in Cuisine, chutneys are made from sour, unripe mangoes. Mango Lassi, a popular drink in S Asia, is made by mixing ripe mangoes, curd and sugar. Mangoes can be eaten raw with salt. A cooling summer drink called panna comes from mangoes. Green mangoes can be used as mango salad with dried shrimp and fish sauce.

Mango is rich in phytochemicals and nutrients. Also vitamins and minerals. The antioxidant vitamins A, C and E compose 25%, 76% and 9% of the DRI ( Dietary Reference Intake ) in a 165 gms serving. Mangoes also contain Vitamin B6, Vitamin K, B vitamins and other nutrients.

Lowering Hyperacidty

There are many who suffer from Hyperacidity. The causes are many. Too much intake of acidic foods and stress. There is an emotional center in the brain which stimulates the oxintic cells in the stomach to secrete Hydrochloric acid. So tension and stress are some of the main factors.

The ratio of Alkalinity and Acidity in the body physiologic is 80:20 and when the ratio of acidity is more than 20%, we have the condition of Hyperacidity. Hyperacidity may lead to ulcer and it is time we reduced this threat of ulceration.

It is time we adopted some prophylactic measures to combat this threat. Hyperacidity intially manifests as gas trouble. Antacid tablets can give temporary relief to gas trouble, but then the entire disease can only be overcome if the body is made more alkaline. Increase the alkalinity of the body by taking in alkaline foods. Optimum health is in an alkaline body.

The virus H Pylori thrives in acidic environment. So the first step is reducing acidity in the treatment of ulceration.

If we alter our food habits, we can get relief from hyperacidity. Prevention is better than cure. The body needs both acidic and alkaline foods and we should be careful to preserve the 80% alkalinity and 20% acidity of the body.

The acidity of blood should be 7 Ph ( Potential of Hydrogen ). Overacidity affects the body's systems adversely. Alkaline reserves are there in the body physiologic and during the condition of hyperacidity, these alkaline reserves will be stolen. This will weaken the body, as reserves of sodium, calcium, magnesium, potassium will be depleted. If this process continues for a long time, our organs will be considerably affected.

So, in order to maintain the 80-20 Alkalinity Acidity balance, we give below a list of acidic and alkaline foods. Pls incorporate more alkaline foods for optimum health. Knowledge is prophylactic and is Power ( Scientia est Potentia ).

Without Health, even Wealth and Wisdom become zero !

Foods which reduce Acidity

Vegetables like garlic, beet root, broccoli, cabbage, carrot, cauliflower, melon, brinjal, mushrooms, onions, pumpkin, spinach, radish etc are food that will reduce hyperacidity.

Fruits like mangoes, papaya, apricot, butterfuruit, dates, cherry, grapes, orange, lime, pineapple, tomato, pumpkins, berries, almond.

Herbal tea, green tea, cardamom, ginger, coconut, lime juice etc. The citric acid present in lime leaves an alkaline ash. Lime is full of vitamins and minerals. Two glasses of Lime juice, along with 12 glass of water intake, is ideal.

Foods which foster Acidity

Sunflower oil, barley, corn, beans, potatoes, bread, chicken, cakes, coffee, eggs, mutton, green peas, soya bean, rice food, fish, sugar, tea, milk, beef, pork, tuna, groundnut, alcoholic beer, wine, soft drinks, noodles, neutrasweet etc.

In vegetables, organic acids along with sodium and potassium will be more. These element increase the alkalinity of the blood. Sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium will increase alkalinity while Sulphur, phosphorus and chlorine will foster acidity.

Climate Change and Astro Meteorology

Successive draughts, intense cold climate and floods have ravaged Bolivia. Let us hope that Kerala will not go the way of Bolivia !

That Bolivia is going towards a major Food Crisis has been highlighted by the Food and Agricultural Organisation of UN.

16000 cattle, 24000 hectares of wheat, corn fields etc will perish in Bolivia. Bolivia will not be able to absorb this crisis of a high magnitude. One fifth of Bolivia is stll reeling under the impact of Climate Change. FAO warns that all natural calamities except cyclones will have to be faced by Bolivia.

The agriculturists are always affected by Climate Change. Traditional agriculture gets destroyed by intense rains or drastic draughts. The agriculturist lives in debt and dies in debt. He is forced to stop his agriculture or fall into the debt trap !

That which is happening in Bolivia may happen in India and Kerala.

Normally Libra rains start in the evening, drizzle at night and before dawn stops raining. Now the climate patterns have changed and intense rains destroyed 5000 acres of paddy fields this season ! All seeds were destroyed and Keralites had to go to Madras to get the seeds. If the earlier patterns were followed - bright sunny days after the intense downpour - then the water would have drained itself from the paddy fields.

Heat also has changed its patterns. It is now 40 degrees at Palghat and the lowest temperature recorded is 22 degrees. In Nilgiriis, rising heat has created red spiders . 8% crop has been destroyed as a result. Red spiders attack the tea plantations which are devoid of huge trees.

There are many paddy fields in Kerala which does not produce, despite the intense work done by the agriculturists.

In Alleppey Dist, when temperature rose 1.8 degrees, there was a reduction in weight of the produce. The rising temperature during the months of January, February and March was the villain. The rice fields of Trichur and Palghat were also considerably affected.

Pepper cultivation is also affected. Weight also comes down. Also cocoa, tea etc in the highlands. In 2004, cocoa produce came down by 39%. Rubber produce declined by 3.8%. . In Kottyam, the highest temperature recorded was 33.3% and now it is 35% ! Because of intense heat and cold, more funguses made their way into rubber. Cashew has also been affected adversely by Climate Change. There is a drop in the produce by 30%. Kerala, which was first in cashewnut production, is now only fourth !

Palghat Dist, bordering Tamil Nadu, looks like the hot TN !. 41 degrees have been reported as the highest temperature. If you go to Chittoor in Palghat, you will come to know how different Palghat looks than the rest of Kerala. Paddy cultivation has come down in Palghat. Palghat gets more North East Monsoon than South West Monsoon !

Global Warming and Climate Change

Climatologists are of the opinion that the quantity of rains have not come down in Kerala. On the other hand, rainy days have declined. Now there are fierce downpours and sunny interludes. Fierce rains are defined as rains which give 20 cms of rain in one hour. Such fierce rains have increased and sunny days have also increased. This Climate Change is caused by Global Warming.

In 2008, in Kuttanad, such rains created havoc, destroying crops. Such rains continued this year, during both the Monsoons, the North East and the South West. Depressions caused these rains. The snowfall in Idukki caused destruction in cardamom crops. Climatologist view these happenings as unnatural phenomena. During some years, the intensity of the South West Monsoon becomes less. Not only Kerala, but Jharkhand, Chattisghand are also adversely affected.

It is said the dogs need not check the Astro Calender to know which is the sidereal month of Virgo or Kanya. It is also proof that time for procreation and Climate are interlinked. Kanya or the sidereal month of Virgo is the interlude between the two major monsoons and is devoid of rains. Less daylight and more the duration of night characterise this sidereal month. This is the month dogs find it easy to mate. This month stimulates the procreational urge in dogs and they instinctively that this is the month for mating. The cause is attributed to the Bio Clock mechanism in dogs. Female dogs give birth only after 60/70 days. By that time the Kala Varsha or the Sourth West Monsoon will be over. The young ones will get the right atmosphere for growing. That is why Nature gave dogs such a benign month.

This year the Kala Varsha continued during the month of Kanya with the result the procreational cycle of dogs is adversely affected. The dogs ran here and thereby their mating declined ! The physiological processes of dogs is affected by Climate Change. Now dogs that are born have less weight and this phenomenon has been observed in Alsation dogs particularly.

The intensity of the rains have increased with the result fierce rains wreaked havoc on Agriculture. The rainwater does not seep through the earth and hence there are less wells and water reservoirs. Floods have increased considerably.

Another phenomenon is the retreat of the monsoons. In July/ August of 2002, less rains caused draught. It used to be 21% rainfall during June, 33% in July, 28% in August and 18% in Sep.

Now Climate Change has changed all that. More sunny interludes have been reported in July. This phenomenon has increased by 30% due to the the wind waves of the South West Monsoon going to the bottom of the Himalayas.

For the last 15 years, oreographic precipiation or rains in the hilly areas, have declined by 20%. Lesser and lesser amount of rains are reported every year.

Deforestation is the cause for less rains in Peerumedu and Nerumangalam. The mountains do block the cold wind waves coming from the Indian Ocean and cause precipitation.

In short, Global Warming's repercussions on Climate can be drastic. We hope furthur negative reports do not come from the Climatologists !

Global Warming and Fish Production

There was a CMFRI ( Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute of India ) report that Global Warming affects fish production.

Co2 emissions are more. The Carbon Dioxide combines with ocean water and forms Carbolic Acid. This increases the acidity levels of the ocean water and affects fish.

The Sea Surface Temperature (SST) goes up due to GW and this affects fish. Fish tend to go to colder areas.

The SST has gone up. In 1962, the SST was 28.3 and in 2007, it is 28.94 !

In fact, the quanity of fish has not come down. It is because of the burgeoning population - 1.2 billion in India and more consumption, that it seems to be so. Some species of fish disappeared. Some moved away to other areas.

In Kerala, from 1960 to 1984, fish production increased threefold due to technology, more education and good nets. But then after 1990, it has not gone up. After 1992, there was not much tuna catch. Mackerels catch also declined significantly. Sardines catch only increased marginally.

Catfish production also declined. Catfish has moved from Trichur but is available in Calicut District. Sharks also have disappered from the Trichur coast.

The heat above the surface of the ocean will be more before the South West Monsoon and will come down during the SW Monsoon. For the last 41 years, a different phenomenon has been observed. The temperature during the Monsoon season was 27.16 and now it is 28. 46!

Sardines are available on the Kerala coast after the Monsoons. Mackerel is available during the monsoons. The difference in temperature is responsible for this.

The difference in temperature is the cause for the change in habitat for fish. Ghee sardines and macekerels, which are found in less deep waters, move towards colder areas when they experience heat. There are also fish which move towards deeper waters. Mackerels which were never caught in deep waters before. are now available in deep waters. Different types of fish survive in different temperatures and GW changes the fish production equation !

The food which is eaten by the fish is also affected by the rise in temperature. Phytoplankton is the main food of fish. The Co2 is absorbed by Phytoplankton and food is prepared. The rising temperature destroys the Phytoplankton thus affecting the food of the fish ! Fish cannot survive due to the destruction of the Phytoplankton ! Some small plants grow rapidly due to the increasing heat, which cannot be eaten by fish ! During some seasons, phytoplanktons grow rapidy and gets destroyed. This also affects fish !

That the ocean becomes orange and red has been reported. This is due to certain phytoplanktons spreading. Some species of fish become more and some less. Poisionous plants become more and this adversely affects fish !

Let us hope GW will not devastate furthur !

G W has also affected astro meteorological patterns. Kerala received 56% more rains during this Monsoon season. Intense rains destroys crops and agri lands were indundated.

Meteorology may say it is a depression in the Bay of Bengal called La Nina which is responsible for the rains, but to those well versed in Astro Meteorology, it is the Sun's transit of Scorpio and the constellation of Delta Scorpi, which is the cause, as heavy rains lashed Trichur. From 0500 PM it was raining till 1100 PM, when I went to sleep.

According to Meteorology, La Nina is a coupled ocean-atmosphere phenomenon of El Nino, as a part of the El Nino Southern Oscillation Climate pattern. La Nina is defined as the dialectial opposite of El Nina !

These depressions happen only during the Monsoon season, when the Sun transits the constellations from Eta Tauri to Alpha Scorpi ! So Astro Meteorology is right !

Why do these depression not happen during the summer season?

Climate Change, triggered by Global Warming, is creating havoc throughout the world. Sea levels rose by 1.8 mms from 1961 to 2003. All snowy mountains are melting. Co2 levels are increasing. Forest fires increased. When hot air creates lightning, forest fires are more. More cyclones and thunderstorms. Extreme climatic patterns are produced. More floods and more draughts than usual.

A Study Committee has reported that Climate Change in Kerala will improve coconut prouction by 30%. Also there will be more sardines and mackarels.

The name sardine is derived from the word " Sardina " which is an island. Sardines are inexpensive protein. Now ghee sardines or oily sardines are sardines full of oil. You dont need oil to fry them, as they have enough oil. Now there will be more oily sardines on the Western Coast due to Climate Change (which is triggered by Global Warming ).

Due to ocean water becoming hot and favourable sea breezes, oily sardines will be more. Indian mackarels will be more, as the surface ocean becomes hot.

While the entire world is worried about Global Warming and Climate Change, this is good news for Kerala. This report was released by the Environment Committee. Within 20 years, there will be a marked climate change and these are the fresh changes which will be triggered. Kerala coconut production will increase by 30% and sardines will be more during the South West Monsoon season and mackarels will be more during the months in between October and March !

Vishakha Njattuvela strikes Kerala !

Fierce rains, accompanied by thunder and lightning, was the characteristic of Vishakha Jnattuvela or the Sun's transit of Beta Librae.

This is Thula Varsha or the North East Retreating Monsoon. Great thunder and lightning at Trichur and I couldnt work on my PC or watch Tv at night.

In Cherpu of Trichur, more than 400 acres of agriculture was destroyed by the rains, the rains of Life and Death.

The Monsoon season in Kerala is about to end and will end with Thrikketa Jnattuvela or the end of the sidereal month of Scorpio. From Sagittarius onwards, it is the hot season and farmers will have to water their lands till the 15th of Edava or Taurus, which heralds the South West Monsoon.

When the Retreating Monsoon ( N E Monsoon ) ends, there is no sigh of relief in this Tropical Zone or Torrid Zone, situated at 10.30 degrees north latitude, as nobody likes the blistering hot season. More than 100 people died due to sunstroke last summer !

The banking sector has recorded good corporate performance. While the State Bank of Mysore post a growth in net of 13%, Indian Bank recorded 11.8% net rise and Vijaya Bank 33% !

Biocon, the blue chip BT co, recorded 20% growth in Q2. Wipro, the IT major, recorded a 10% rise in net profit !

There are some negative factors, like FDI falling, slipping down to 1.33 billion USD in August, from 3.28 b ! Overall, there is a slump in FDI.

Jupiter, the financial planet, moves over to the adverse 8th for India and this indicates some financial stringency. This is only a temporarary phase, as Indian stock market will go upto 50 K Sensex, within a decade. Let us not be bothered by temporary setbacks. Ultimately the victory will be India's !

The same constituents which comprise my body comprise yours. The Self is the same. So you and I are the same and the man who knows this mystic principle is considered as a Jnani.

Returning to the Wisdom of Nature is what is meant by the Earth Charter and the Ark of the Gaia Covenant.

"Do not do unto the environment of others what you do not want done to your environment... My hope is that this charter will be a kind of Ten Commandments, a "Sermon on the Mount", that provides a guide for human behaviour toward the environment towards the next century". said Gorbachev. The Earth Charter should become like the Ten Commandments and the 16 principles are more or less the 16 Commandments of Gaia !

Let us return to Nature and her Wisdom. According to Satish Kumar, contemporary thinkers of the Green Movement are collectively developing an ecological world-view. Or in other words, Deep Ecology has become the priority in the minds of the thinking class.

The earlier "pagan" festivals worshipped the Sun's entries into the constellations. The Sun's entry into Capricornus was celebrated in India as Pongal. This is the beginning of Uttarayana, the northern transit of the Sun. At this point on Dec 21, the Sun's gross RA (Right Ascension) will be 270 degrees and his declination -23 degrees and 27 minutes. That was the end of Daskhinayana, or the Southern Transit of the Sun. The Sun's entry into the Vernal Equinox was celebrated as Vishu, the beginning of the Indian Year. At that point Sun's gross RA will be zero and his declination zero ! Also the Sun'e entry into the Summer Solstice, Karkyadi, was celebrated as the Ramayana month. His declination will be +23 degrees 27 minutes and his gross RA will be 90 degrees ! His entry into the Autumnal Equinox, Thuladi, was also celebrated. It marks the beginning of the Thula Varsha, the North East Monsoon. His gross RA will be 180 degrees and his declination 0 degrees ! The word Equinox is derived from Latin Equi Noctis, when night and day are of equal duration ( at Equinoxes ) and Sun's declination will be Zero degrees !

The Cross of the Zodiac refers to the Four Major Cardinal Points of the Sun - his gross Right Ascension at 0 degrees ( Meshadi ), at 90 degrees ( Karkyadi ), at 180 degrees ( Thuladi ) and at 270 degrees ( Makaradi ) !

The musician Paul Winter peformed concerts at the Cathedral of St John the Divine in New York City, on the days of Equinoxes and Solstices. One of these concerts was for an annual Earth Mass, on Oct 7th. Oct 7th happens to be the Hindu holy day of Dussera, when the Universal Life Energy, the Universal Mother, is worshipped in India.

The Gregorian Calender may be more popular than the Astro Calender, but knowers of Astronomy and Astrology know which one is better !

Look at the 16th principle and you will find that it is nothing but Indian Culture in toto. The ancients said Dasa Putro Sama Druma ( one tree is equal to ten sons ). To counter Deforestation and Desertification, Reforestation is the answer.

Love cognised is Truth
Love in action is Non Violence
Love as feeling is Peace !

Tolerance is one of the best qualities in man. The true mystic is he who tolerates both enemy and friend !

We have two duties - duty unto Caesar ( worldly duty ) and duty unto God ( divine duty ). While one should work and support one's family, one should also devote one's time to Nature ! Protecting Gaia is our duty. She gave birth to us.

We extoll democracy, but believe in the dictatorship of the Ego ! We talk socialism but is capitalistic minded. We talk about environmental awareness but go on destroying ecosystems, flora and fauna. In us, there is inner war, between our positive and negative aspects.

The Environment Movement has been defined as the First Global Revolution. It was in relative obscurity a decade ago. Now it has blossomed into a great movement, spawning thousands of organisations and has millions of activists.

If we adopt a one child policy for the next two generations, population can be controlled. If we go on at this rate ( in resource depletion, population growth, mass urbanisation, industrialisation, pollution and food production ), there will be limits to growth. We have to alter these growth trends and establish a condition of ecological and economic stability, to save our planet ! Will we wake up to the call of Gaia ?

Considered as India's biggest and first social reality show, the Green Kerala Express is a successful S R show, by the govt of the coastal state of Kerala.

There is a grand jury consisting of PhDs and the 1223 Panchayats, the Corporations and the Municipalities of Kerala will come under the scanner. It has received 250 entries so far from the residents of Kerala. A whopping 213,000 USD will be awarded to the best Corporation, Panchyath and Municipality, after 100 days of intense competition. Projects will be selected and there will be video documentation. The leaders of Panchayats who are selected will have to answer the learned Jury's questions. The august assembly or audience can vote via text messages.

By Green is meant Sustainable Agriculture, Organic Farming, water conservation, health, food and social security, eco friendly homes, atmospheric non pollution, education, energy, housing and women's empowerment, in a land burdened by overpopulation and scarce resources.

There are some good examples like a village that ditched pesticides for Organic Farming. Waste was converted into biofuel by one village's initiative , and another village replaced incandescent bulbs with flouoscent bulbs. Another village is based on Bio Gas. Another village which solved its potable water problem was highlighted. The Green Initiative is spreading worldwide and will sweep the world.

Education or Wisdom is great and is the teacher of teachers. It is time India invested in R & D in Agri and educated its people about both Bio Technology and Organic Farming and the necessity of keeping the land green and improved her agri infrastructure. Now there is an awakening and 32 lakh trees were planted on Environment Day. 2000 trees were planted at the Trichur Medical College Healing Garden and 200 gooseberry seedling were planted by Oushadi, the state's Ayurvedic arm at the nearby Santhvana Vana. More than 10 million trees will be planted in Kerala !

I hope they include Bio Dynamics and Astro Meterology as part of Organic Farming.

Bio Regionalism is a system of Philosophy which highlights the Enviroment. Its exponent Gary Snyder is considered as the Poet Laureat of Deep Ecology.

Gay Snyder was attracted to Zen and drew his inspiration from the writings of D T Suzuki. He was inspired by Zen's attitude towards Nature and the Environment.

Zen is nothing but esoteric Buddhism and Snyder was attracted towards Buddhism and ( through its sciences and arts ) to East's traditional attitudes towards Nature.

Did not Lord Buddha say

Know that which ye sow ye reap
See yonder fields
The sesamum was sesamum, the corn was corn
The Silence and the Darkness knew
So is a man's Fate born ! ( The Light of Asia )

Even though Buddhism does not postulate the concept of a Divine Judge, Nature substitutes Him ! What ye sow ye reap becomes the Grand Law of Causation, the Law of Karma and Universal Nature is the Judge.

Biio Regionalism sees ecoregioins as bioregions and highlights the unique ecology of the bioregion. B R encourages the use of local foods and local materials. The cultivation of native plants in the bioregion is highlighted. Native traditional wisdom, which is benevolent to that particular bioregion, is given prime importance.

BR opposes consumer culture and a homogenous economy. It is obvious that Bio Regionalism is based on the Wisdom of Nature.

At the subatomic level, the invisible realm, many things are happening. The Electron is both a particle and a wave. Matter, at its subtlest level, is the Vaccum State.

The best use one can get from symbols is a description of Reality, maximal and incomplete. Symbols and experience are part of Eastern Mysticism. One should go beyond symbols into the realm of experience.

"Poetry should initiate us unto Philosophy " said Plutarch. The great poets of yore indulged in Mystic Symbolism.

Niels Bohr conceived the principle of Complementarity - that items have contradictory properties. The photon, for instance, is both a particle and a wave, two apparently mutually contradictory properties. One of his famous students was Heisenberg, who bequethed to the scientific world the Uncertainty Principle.

In Eastern philosophies, Reality was defined as an Indeterminate which include contradictory properties. Opposites coexist in Realty. The Absolute Being contains both the finite and the Infinite. The Law of Complementarity, discovered by Bohr, was not altogether new to the ancient mystics, the Seer Poets !

The Absolute Brahman was defined by them as both Impersonal and Personal, Nirguna and Saguna. The Law of Conservation of Mass-Energy

The Law of Conservation of Mass Energy states that Truth ( Mass Energy ) can neither be created nor destroyed.

The sum total energy in the Universe is an absolute constant. This Total Mass Energy was what the ancient Seer Poets called as the Indestructible Reality ( Avinashi thu tadvidhhi yena sarvam idam tatam ).

Our bodies belong to the universal sea of Matter. Our minds to the sea of Universal Mind. The conserved Mass Energy is the same ( Samam Brahma ).

If the total energy is not Kshara or destructible, then it is Indestructible or Akshara ( Aksharam Brahma ).

The ancient Seer Poets spoke of Reality negatively, initially. They said It is not this, It is not that ( as this is finite and that is finite, whereas Reality in Infinite ). At the same time they spoke of it positively, they said It is this, It is that, It is all ( sarvam brahmamayam ). Because they were first indicating that the Absolute is non-relative or the Infinite is non-finite. Then they said the Absolute is that which includes all relatives ! Brahman, the Absolute, they said, is Matter, is Life, is Mind, is Supermind, is Cosmic Delight, is Existence- Consciounsess - Beatitude !

The modern physicist, if he were to speak of the Total Mass Energy in the Universe, will say the same thing. That Reality or Mass Energy is this, It is that, It is all !

The Universe as a Wave Function?

Matter, then, has dual properties. Is both Particle and Wave. The Copenhagen Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics ( Copenhagen is the place where Niels Bohr came from )in 1927 accepted the dual properties of the Electron !

Does that mean that the ocean of Matter which we see around us, is only solid, particle like?

Or does that mean it is only Wave like ?

The De Broglie Hypothesis and the Shroedinger Wave Equation says that Matter has both properties - it has wave like properties and at the same time it has particle like properties !

If Matter be Truth or Reality, will we not pray to Matter thus

O Matter ! thou art both Particle and Wave !

Werner Heisenberg, postulated the famous Uncertainity Principle. He postulated that we can never know what goes on in the invisible subatomic realm and that " therefore we should abandon all attempts to construct perpetual levels of atomic processes".

Independently of Schroedinger and De Broglie, Heisenberg developed experimental data into tabular form, which he called matrices. His method was called Matrix Mathematics.

The quintessence of his theory is sample. The course of a single electron cannot be predicted and is uncertain. Newtonian Physics do not apply to the subatomic realm. Quantum Theory can predict the distribution ( probable ) with a beam of electrons, but Quantum Theory cannot predict the course of a single electron !

The earlier idea of the causal Universe is totally undermined by the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle.

Matter, a derivative of Consciousness

Truth is that, on the subatomic level, Science is not exact ! The Old Physics of Newton does not apply to the subatomic realm. The New Physics states that electrons are standing waves and Matter exhibits two properties - that of a particle and a Wave. Prof Shroedinger was sure that electrons are standing waves. Something was standing and he called it the Psi function or rather the Wave Function.

There is no such thing as Space and Time, as Newton thought. There is only an inseparable SpaceTime and we live in a four dimensional Space-Time Continuum. The Four Dimensional Space-Time Continuum

Like Capra's "Tao of Physics", Gary Zukav's " Dancing Wu Li Masters" shook the philosophic world.

It is called the overview of the New Physics. The Old Physics was Newtonian Physics which maintained that Space and Time are separate.

Einstein differed from Newton. Space and Time are not separate, they are one whole called Space-Time.

Old classical Physics of Newton gave way to the New Physics, that is Quantum Physics. De Broglie's Matter_Wave Hypothesis postulated that Matter exists as both Particle and Wave. The fourth Dimension of Time was added to the three dimesions of Space, that is length, breadth and thickness.

Hermann Minnowski, the maths teacher of Einstein, postulated the theory of the Four Dimensional Space-Time Continuum. We live, breathe and exist in the four dimensional Space-Time Continuum, which is an Eternal Now.

This recent finding of the New Physics is the corroboration of Eastern Philosophies, which maintained that the Unified Field of Consciousness is the only Reality and that the Universe is a Universe of appearance.

Pauli's Exclusion Principle

Wolfgang Pauli revolutionised Physics with his statement " that no two similar electrons can exist in the same atom".

This came to be known as the Pauli's Exclusion Principle. One electron excludes any similar electron.

In the heavens, we find that the Solar System is like the Atom. The electrons revolve in elliptical orbits around the central nucleus. Similarly the planets traverse in elliptical orbits around the central Sun. " As Above, So Below" !

Kepler in his first Law of Planetary Motion opined that planets move in elliptical orbits with Sun as the Focus of the Ellipse !

If you extend the Exclusion Principle, we find that in the Solar system, no two planets are alike ! Jupiter differs from Mercury and so on !

The New Age Movement (NAM) is a revival of spiritual and divine values and
can be called as a Divine Regeneration Movement. New Age Philosophy has

Soothing audio environments are created by New Age musicians and they
believe rightly that Music has psycho-therapeutic properties. ( This concept
is derived from the Vedic Philosophy that All music is Samaveda, the 4th
Veda of the Indians ). Born of an interest in spirituality and healing in
the late 1970s, it is often used as an aid in meditation.

Essentially meditative, New Age Music is soothing to the Soul. Isnt Music
defined as the food for the Soul ? Harmonic consonance, uplifting themes,
contemplative melodies & nonlinear song forms are the characteristics of
New Age music. Even natural sounds or sounds from Nature and traditional
electronic instruments are used by New Age musicians. With roots in
classical music or Eastern Music, New Age music is often meditative.

New Age practices have almost conquered the world. Athletes are using guided
imagery. Graduate schools of business are invoking T M, Yoga, and Tarot
cards in teaching courses on creativity in business (e.g., Stanford Graduate
School of Business). Based upon Astrology, the Science of Time, stock market
gurus employ Fibonacci numbers and "Wave Theory" in their forecasting.

We can summarise that the term New Age is an innovative term derived from
the mother of all sciences, Astrology, indicating that this earth is
undergoing an evolutionary transitional phase from the Piscean Age of
Scientism to the Aquarian Age of Divine Wisdome, Cosmic Consciousness ,
Knowledge and Love.
Since the New Age is a conglomeration of spiritual practices, let us analyse
the basic principles of N A M

1. The Divine Source of Authority. New Agers do not claim any source of
authority -- Only Inspiration by the Divine. By the Divine we mean a
principle within, the Divine Spark or the Self and many are there who
receive the revealations of the Self within or the intuitive insights of the
Self.

2. The Lord. - Since Matter and Energy can neither be created or destroyed
and the sum total energy in the Universe is an absolute constant ( Universal
Being ), the Lord did not create the world, He became the world.
Monism --( "All is Unity" ) averrs that there is only One Essence in the
universe, everyone and everything being a part of that essence. The Self is
an utter Being and all these are its Becomings. New Agers view God as an
Impersonal Life force, Consciousness, or Energy (e.g., the "Star Wars
Force") mainly but they also believe in His personal aspect, as the Ocean
( which is Formless ) can take the form of an iceberg! They averr that every
human has a divine spark within him because all created beings are
reflections of the Divine Idea. The eternal state is called by various
terms among different New Age groups, i.e., God-consciousness, Universal
Love, Self-Realization, the I AM, Higher Self, Brahman, Nirvana, etc.

2. The Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Christ Consciousness or the Divine
Consciousness is what the New Age advocates mean by Christ. . In other
words, Christ is a Divine Principle rather than an individual, such as
Jesus. This idea of Christ Consciousness asserts that Jesus was only one of
the Christs, but that He equipped Himself to receive the Christ
Consciousness (i.e., He was a great Master who attained Christ
Consciousness), as did other prophets like Buddha, Krishna, and Mohammed.
New Agers believe Dr Paul Brunton who stated the Jesus spent 18 years in
India absorbing Indian Mysticism and that he was initiated into the highest
esoteric doctrine.

3. Human Destiny. Man is the measure of all things and is more divine than
the animals & hence the salvation of the world depends upon Man. Cleansing
the negative elements from the collective subconscient should be the aim of
humanity. Once Negativity is cleaned from the collective subconscient, the
human positive energy will shine forth and the noble ideals of the New Age
will be actualised in an era of Enlightenment. Since man is intrinsically
divine and perfect, his only real problem is ignorance of that fact. Gnosis
means experiential knowledge and Salvation in the New Age is for man to
become enlightened through this Divine Gnosis. New Age groups offer various
spiritual techniques to enable individuals, and ultimately the world, to
evolve into this Unitive Consciousness . These techniques may include
psychotechnologies for attaining altered states of consciousness -
Transcendental Meditation, Yoga, Zen, Attunement , Channeling (Spirit
guides), Psychics, Acupuncture, etc.

4. The Ethical Opposites, Good & Evil - Believing in the Oriental
philosophies, New Agers make the distinction between good and evil. All
wickedness is weakness and Evil is imperfection. By the method of Trial and
Error, we come to know what is good and what is bad for the world and we
have to transcend the dualities.

5. Reincarnation. New Agers believe in the ancient Vedic philosophic
concept of Reincarnation -- that through a long process of rebirths, man can
eventually attain Divine perfection. They also teach the Universal Law of
Karma --(( The Law of Cause and Effect ( Every effect has a cause ), the
Law of Action and Reaction, the Law of Retribution ))- that what a person
sows , he shall reap. This is also the doctrine of God's non-responsibility,
that the Self is not responsible and it is the Ego which experiences bitter
& sweet mental experiences due to its own Karma.

6.Salvation is Self-Actualisation and Sin is Ignorance - SSome theoreticians
taught the concept of Man's Original Sin. New Age exponents teach the
concept of man's essential goodness. Instead of systems which emphasised the
human negative aspect and sin, New Age highlights that every man is
essentially divine and it is a sin to call man a sinner ! However, New Agers
speak of troublesome desires which are natural impulses which retard human
evolution and make the Ego move away from the Self. Sin is merely ignorance
of man's essential divinity. The atrophied spiritual consciousness of the
normal man who lives in ignorance of his Divine Self is Sin. Like the Law of
Conservation of Energy which states that Energy cannot be created or
destroyed, the Law of Conservation of Soul states that the Soul can neither
be created nor destroyed. Matter exists in 3 states, liquid, gaseous and
solid and matter cannot be created or destroyed. Nothing ever begins to be.
Similarly Life does not at physical birth begin to be. It merely enters
physical conditions and assumes physical guise. It merely undergoes a
parallel transformation into conditions which preexisted in other
conditions. The Soul is reincarnated in different bodies in a continous
succession of lives. The good or bad Karma earned in the present lifetime
determines one's subsequent incarnation. Attaining higher states of
Consciousness should be our aim.There are many different paths to the goal
of Divine perfection and we should be tolerant of other paths.

The divine Aurobindo predicted that spiritual influences from India will
trigger off a global spiritual movement.There will be Mass Incarnations (
many people divinely inspired ) who will work for World Peace and Universal
Love !

The four systems of Philosophy which triggered the N A M are Hinduism, a
product of 5,000 years of development, Buddhism, circa 560 B.C., Taoism,

The Big Lie which is the Aryan Invasion of India

A lie which is floated by the people opposed to India an her civilization is
the Aryan invasion of India. According to this doctrine, light-skinned Indo
European tribes, called the "Aryans' invaded India around 1500 BCE. They
replaced the light-skinned Dravidian civilization, from which arose Hindu culture.
This theory's aim is to denigrate India and Hindu culture.

The Vedas were never written, they were cognised in higher states of
Consciousness. " Srooyathe ithi Sruthi" means they were heard, by those who
had purified themselves to receive the impersonal knowledge.

The aim of this vicious theory is to

Give a Greek basis to Vedic culture
Divide India into a northern Aryan and southern Dravidian culture.
State that Vedic culture is derived from the Middle East
Give the excuse for the expansion of the British Empire in India

Philosophy is referred to by some priesthood as Paganism and Witchcraft, Satanism and Occultism. They invented a Satan to show that their enemies are Satanists ! The entity called Satan does not exist, except in the minds of the priesthood !

The proponents of this theory were the Theologians, whose dogmas Science
denies. " All dogmas belong to Theology" remarked Russell. All established
facts belong to Science and in between this No Man's land of Science and
Theology, lies Philosophy, which is scientific and speculative !

Aryan is a Sanskrit word. Aryam means noble and Anaryam means ignoble. " The Noble Law is known in Sanskrit as Arya Dharma and those who walk the Path Celestial are Aryans.

"Krinvantho Vishwam Aryam" means make the whole world noble. By Aryan no
race is meant, but spiritually advanced, intellectually fit noble
beings, the great spiritual ones like Jesus and Socrates, Aurobindo and
Tagore. They were the Elder Brothers of humanity, the true Aryans.

Theology is always against Philosophy. That is why Jesus, Bruno and Mansoor
lost their lives. Theologians cannot understand the inner meaning of the
great scriptures. They take the literal meaning, not the esoteric.
They complain that the Gnostics, the Illumined Ones, the Yogis and the Sufis
consider themselves as Aryans and Atlanteans. We averr that enlighened mystics
are the true philosophers, the true prophets, the true Aryans !

The Aryan Invasion Theory is fabricated by some European scholars to denigrate Indian culture. Some political parties use this theory to exploit the masses.
The earlier proponets of the AIT were not genuine scholars and they had political aims. Max Muller was paid by the East India Company and Lassen and Weber were German nationalists, who believed in the White Aryan Race Theory. Shopenhauer said that they had the knowledge of only schoolboys !

It can be scientifically proved that the hymns of the Rig Veda had been composed by 3700 BC.

The language of the Indus script is based on Sanskrit, the mother of Europe's languages and the language of the Vedas.

Archeological findings indicate that Indus Valley Civilization can be called as Vedic Civilization.

The movement of the ancient Aryan people, ' the Noble Ones', was from East to West and this is the reason why the European languages have strong association and origin in the Sanskrit language. ( For instance, Mater for mother is Matha, Pather is Pitha or Father, Frater is Bratha or Brother, Septa is Sapta, Octa is Ashta, Nova is Nava and Decem is Dasa ).

No barbaric hordes ever destroyed the Vedic Civilization.

Evidence of an Aryan-Dravidian divide or a South-North divide is never reported by any scripture.

According to some, they came from Central Tibet, others will have it that they come from Central Asia .There are patriotic Englishmen who think that the Aryans were all red haired. Others ,according to their idea ,think that they were all black – haired. If the writer happens to be a black haired man, the Aryans were all black-haired. Of late, there was an attempt made to prove that the Aryans lived on Swiss lake..I should not be sorry if they had been all drowned there ,theory and all . Some say now that they lived at the North pole , Lord bless the Aryans and their habitations ,As for as the truth of these theories .there is not one word in our scriotures ,not one ,to prove that the Aryans came from anywhere outside of India ,in ancient India was in included Afghanistan There it ends’

And the theory that the sudra caste were all non –Aryans and they a multitude ,is equally illogical and irrational. Iit could not have been possible in those days that a few Aryans settled and lived there with a hundred thousand slave at their command .The slavse woud have eaten them up, made chutneyof them in five minutes .The only explanation is to be found in tha Mahabharath ,which says that in the beginning of the Satya Yuga there was only one caste ,the Brahmins ,and then by differences of occupations they went on dividing themselves in to different castes and the coming Satya Yuga all other castes will have to go back to the same condition .

Permaculture or permanent Agriculture

After seeing the negative effects of industrial agricultural methods, Bill Mollison and David Holmgren developed Permaculture, which can be defined as agro ecological culture or alternate agriculture. The industrial agri methods were reducing biodiversity, poisoning water and land and removing billions of tonnes of topsoil from previously fertile landscapes. The solution is Permaculture, with emphasis on ecosystems and organic bio farming.

Based on ecological and biological principles, using natural patterns to minimise work and maximise results, Permaculture is sustainable use of land design.

Permaculture was first practised by the Austrian farmer, Sepp Holzer and later this theory was scientifically developed by the Australian farmers, Bill Mollison and David Holmgren. In Permaculture, the eco processes of plants, animals, their nutrient cycles, weather cycles and climatic factors are used. "Wastes" become resources, work is minimised and yields and productivity increase. For instance, the farmers in India use the Vedic Astronomic Calender for planting seeds. This is using the Weather Cycles. Using Jnattuvelas or Sun's ingresses into the constellations, seeds are planted. There is a time to sow and a time to reap and why not use Astrology for planting seeds ? ( For instance, today, the 25th of May, is the beginning of the Rohini Jnattuvela, when the Sun enters the constellation of Rohini. It rained yesternight. It also rained in the afternoon. Using the Vedic Astrologic Calender, the weather cycles can be known. The next Jnattuvela, Makiryam Jnattuvela, will be fiercer, as far as rains are concerned. It will be raining cats and dogs during Thiruvathira Jnattuvela. Such indications are given by the Astrologic Calender ).

The aim of Permaculture is to increase yields and productivty, without damaging the ecosystems.

The Gaia Hypothesis !

Dr Lovelock formulated his famous Gaia Hypothesis, an ecological hypothesis that the components of the Earth and the Biosphere form a complex interactive system. This superorganism maintains the biogeochemical and climatic condition of Earth in a perfect homeorhesis.

James Lovelock proposed it as the Earth Feedback Hypothesis, but the name was changed due to the suggestion of William Golding as the Gaia Hypothesis, named after the Greek Goddess of Earth, Gaia.

According to this Hypothesis,

The Earth is coevolutionary, meaning that Life and the Environment evolved together.

The Earth is homeostatic, that is Earth has regulatory mechanisms which maintains the constancy of the internal milieu.

The Earth is geophysical, responsible for the geo-physical cycles, like the Water Cycle, the Oxygen Cycle, the Nitrogen Cycle etc. ( Evapotransipration from the land, evaporation from the sea and then condensation and precipitation as rains is the Water Cycle).

The Earth is optimising, as the Earth shaped the planet in such a way that made it an optimal environment for Life.

This Hypothesis coincides with Indian Philosophy. Medha Sooktham is a prayer devoted to Gaia, the concept of Bhoomi Devi is nothing but Gaia Hypothesis and Bhoomi Pooja is done in India, as a method of propitiating Gaia, as the ancients revered Nature as Divine !

This union of Science and Philosophy is referred to as the Sacred Balance. Ever since the days of Darwin, there has been a bifurcation between Science and Spirituality and the Sacred Balance heals this dichotomy.

World Environment Day

Today is World Environment Day. Nature is wise and Almighty and we should try to preserve the ecosystems. We should adhere to the Blue and Green Covenants.

In Kerala, 70 lakh trees are being planted. 32 lakh trees have been planted already.

We have destroyed our rainforests, flora and fauna and our water reservoirs like wells and ponds, with the result we are facing desertification. We have degraded our environment. We should preserve our ecology or we will be facing disaster !.

Gorbachev, the President of the Green Cross International, said about the Earth Charter. " We hope it will be like the Ten Commandments, a Sermon on the Mount, which will provide a guide for human behaviour towards the environment for this century and beyond ". The Earth Charter is an international declaration of values and rights for building a sustainable and just global society. The Earth Charter Initiative Organisation promotes the Charter. The Charter is endorsed by millions of organisations and seeks to inspire in the minds of the people a sense of global interdependence and shared responsibilty for the wellbeing of humankind.

Deep Ecology

Arne Naess, the Norwegian philosopher, founded Deep Ecology. Deep Ecology is a holistic view of Ecology, a sort of Ecosophy. Not Ecology as a science of the Environment, ready to be exploited by humans. Deep Ecology views humankind as an integral part of the environment.

Deep Ecology is an environmental advocacy which can guide humanity against self destruction by humans. Deep Ecology is of the view that massive economic acticity has pushed the Bioshpere away from its natural state to a state of reduction in biodiversity and climate change and other influences. Too much dependence on Science at the expense of Traditional Wisdom has caused this exploitation of Nature. Civilization is facing mass extinction. Deep ecologists intend to change the present modern thinking with their holistic philosophy.

Dr Vandana Shiva has written a book called Vedic Ecology. V E views the individual as an integral part of the environment. The rivers are lifebloods of the ecosystems. The Vedic views all Nature as divine. The ecosystem is part of our life.

The Vedic Seers regarded Nature as Manifest Divinity ( Saguna Brahman ). Plants and trees have life, not only humans. The ecosystem, therefore, was very important to them. They worshipped Nature and there were scientific reasons in worshipping the Manifest Divinity. Holy groves were part of the environment. They built temples, with big ponds attached in every village. Each temple had ample space and most temples were in the midst of forests. Holy groves were attached to temples. Plants, trees and animals were part of their life and they regarded Life as sacred. Their world view is indeed great, in these days of pollution ( of air, water and soil) , environmental degradation, overpopulation & desertification.

The Rise of New Age !

New Age is based on the wisdom of Nature. James Lovelock, the author of the Ages of Gaia, declared that " Gaia ( Earth ) is the source of Life Everlasting and is alive now, she gave birth to humankind and we are a part of Her". The human assault on Gaia is responsible for Global Warming. This human assault is like fever and humans are not allowing Gaia to recuperate. " She may be unable to relax because we have been busy removing her skin and using it as farm land, especially the trees and the forests of the humid tropics ... we are also adding a vast blanket of greenhouse gases to the already feverish patient! "

According to the Gaia Hypothesis, the Earth is a living organism, homeostatic or self regulatory, the source of all life, which has the capacity to heal itself under natural conditions. Unfortunately humanity feels that technology can overwhelm Gaia's capacity for self healing. Such thinking will only bring disaster and destruction unless the human species stops the technological assault on Her !.

This Gaia Hypothesis is in tune with Philosophia Indica, which maintains that Nature ( Prakriti ) is verily He ( Purusha ).

It is not surprising to see that more than 6 million websites embrace New Age Philosophy. New Age is nothing but World Mysticism and incorporates Yoga ( Hindu Mysticism ), Kabalah ( Jewish Mysticism ), Sufism ( Islamic Mysticism ), Gnosticism ( Christian Mysticism ), Zen ( Buddhist Mysticism ), and the mystic wisdom of all the world's great religions.
