Life is a mystery. The cosmos is a mystery. What are its boundaries? If it is an expanding universe, where does it expand to? What is beyond it? Some of the stars are millions of light years away from us. What an unimaginable distance! What is there in the cosmos? Who made it? When did it form? What was there, before it was formed?
Who am I? Am I a body with a name? Then how do some people have good luck and some bad? Why do some children get cancer at a very young age and some people with all the bad habits live a healthy life for a long time? What are we destined to do on this earth. Where did we come from and where shall we go?
Why there is so much misery in the world? Why do we love some people and hate some bitterly? What is that, which will satisfy us? What is the objective of human life? There are so many questions in our minds. Every religion has its own theory and its own explanation. In India, it is considered that The Guru is the only one who can answer all these questions.
Who is The Guru? According to ancient Indian scriptures, Guru is God in human body. He comes on this earth to liberate His followers. A Guru is not to be confused with people who write well or speak well about Indian mythology and philosophy. They may be called as learned persons or good speakers or good writers of books. But none of them is The Guru.
The west is increasingly getting attracted to Hinduism and Indian culture. Many branches of Hinduism including Yoga are becoming very popular in the west. Many people travel from India to the west to lecture upon Hinduism and the scriptures of India, and many people call them as Gurus. That is wrong use of the word - Guru. Guru is very mysterious.
How to know that some one is A Guru? After coming in contact with Guru, you must and will feel a change that is life altering. The change is not something like - I feel good, or I feel peaceful. The Guru brings about changes that can never be explained by you to others. If any time, you come across Guru, you will know by these changes and then over a period of time the Guru will reveal his/her identity to you. That depends on his/her wish. No one should take every saint in India or anywhere as Guru. There are very few in the world. According to Indian scriptures, only if you have collected lot of good karma, do you get to meet The Guru. I can only make one statement. The experience of the power of Guru is very different than anything else. And in the beginning the experience may be very painful rather than pleasant. But the end is pure bliss.

Create Success -- One Goal at a Time
Success is the progressive realization of meaningful goals. This definition means that you will continually realize success one goal at a time with another goal waiting to be realized.
Goals, by definition, are: measurable, achievable, observable and timely—you set your own goals—and how to measure them.
Goals are quantitative (winning an award, meeting an earnings goal or sales quota, obtaining a new job or promotion, getting married, losing weight, pulling off an event you organized, taking a trip, learning a sport, etc.) or they can be qualitative (forgiving someone, facing a crises with tact, compassion, level headedness and leadership, or reaching out to others, changing a bad habit, improving communication or relationship skills, etc).
Quantitative and qualitative goals may be declared in every area of your life, and if they are important to you, they are how you create a meaningful life.
The most important aspect of creating a meaningful life is your Inner Thoughts and Feelings. Your Inner Thoughts and Feelings include your ambitions, your body sensations, your mood, the images you envision for yourself. This is your private domain—it is where your true identity is defined and your integrity is rooted.
We have an ideal image about ourselves and we tell the world with statements like, “I’m the kind of person who…” “I usually….” or “I think that kind of person is….”
These statements reveal our belief system, which aids us in navigating our world. If our belief system is unexamined as the world changes around us, we may become inflexible or rigid and unable to adapt to a changing world. Thus this becomes the biggest threat to ongoing success and fulfillment.
Our body is complicit in supporting our belief system. Even though your thoughts and feelings are internal, they give off clues despite your desire to appear cool, calm and collected. When you are nervous your palms may sweat, or you may clench your teeth when angry, or frown when worried, or you may blush when embarrassed.
Being familiar with your body’s patterns and what triggers certain feelings will give you valuable information so that you can make conscious choices, which will contribute to setting and achieving meaningful goals.
Identifying One’s Thought and Feelings:
• Find a time and quiet place you can avoid interruption and write your thoughts. Journaling is an excellent way to help your mind explore more deeply—simple notes in a notebook or day planner is OK. Avoid making this into a major project. Committing 10 minutes every day to write thoughts and feelings is an excellent way to make this technique work for you.
• Pay attention to your body’s sensations in every moment. Even as you read this, are you feeling resistance? Are your thoughts ones of being a naysayer or judgmental. Are you thinking this won’t work for me? Are you thinking this is a ‘dumb’ idea? Where are the thoughts registering in your body—pit of your stomach, throat, neck, forehead or back of your head?
• Allow this to be an adventure or an experiment. You are the subject of your research and you may find new and wondrous things about yourself, or you may find possibilities for growth and renewed commitment to your own magnificence!
Examine the Beliefs you Hold Consciously and Unconsciously:
• Make a list of the beliefs you hold. Write them down regardless of whether they are yours originally, or those you inherited. Keep them focused on YOU. Avoid generalities.
• Consider using the following technique: “I believe that _________is_________.
• Fill in the first blank with each of the following words, using them as prompts. Fill in the second blank with your belief about the first word—write the first thought about the first word because that is your unconscious thought coming through. The unconscious mind holds the truth of the matter in our lives. Success… Money…. God…. Marriage…. Family…. Life…. Death…. Education…. Time…. Giving…. Receiving…. Spirituality…. Add to the list as you are inspired to examine deeper.
Observe Your Patterns:
Your mind can multi-task. Part of your mind can be an observer. Observe yourself as you go about your life. Begin during non-stressful situations to get the hang of self-observation. Then increase the observation process gradually to observing yourself all the time. For example: Begin by observing yourself going into a meeting or seeing your family, or driving. Notice how you react when someone cuts you off or you have a disagreement with someone at work or family—is there a difference when you disagree with someone at work than with a family member? If you are playing with your children, or hugging someone or petting your pet, notice what you are thinking and how you feel. The key is to Notice. Avoid judgment. Avoid berating yourself. Just—Notice.
Notice:
• How connected are you to your body? Your feelings?
• Begin to notice when you feel good and where in your body the feeling is located. What types of interactions or actions leave you feeling good?
• Begin to notice when you feel anxious and where in your body that feeling is located. What types of interactions or actions left you feeling anxious?
• Begin to observe your relationship with your ‘gut feelings.’ What do you they tell you? When do you connect with them? When do you avoid them?
• Notice that Feelings follow Thoughts. Notice when you have happy thoughts you have happy feelings. Conversely notice when you worry, have angst or negative thoughts—your happy feelings are gone--puffed into the ethers.
Determine What You Want:
You have a plethora of information about yourself. You know yourself better than ever before and even if you knew yourself well before you started, then you have added the habit of continual self-observing.
Review what you have learned and determine whether your beliefs, thought patterns and subsequent feelings are helping or hindering you to achieve your next meaningful goal—your next glorious success. Invite the meaning in your life to rule your thoughts, which create your feelings. What an exciting and glorious journey you have begun. You are empowered and no one can take it away from you.
If the answer is—No—then revise your beliefs so they will support your intentions. Consciously choose new thought patterns—identify the thoughts that inspire you; ones that propel you toward your goal.
The majority of people engage a life coach to jump start the process of creating Inner Thoughts and Feelings that will move them toward a greater life vision.

Vedic home design said to provide health, prosperity
By: GARY WARTH - Staff Writer
Paul Worland suffered from chronic sinus infections and fatigue. Cathleen Cook suffered from various health problems, including lingering depression.
Both feel much better today and say they are enjoying life more, with better health, greater peace of mind and even improved finances. But it wasn't a doctor, therapist or financial consultant who helped improve their life, they say. It was their houses.
"We built the house as a Vedic style," Worland said about this style of building associated with Hindu culture. The word Vedic comes from Veda, which is a sacred Hindu text.
Specifically, vastu architecture follows the belief that the direction a building faces and the use of its rooms have a direct effect on the health and well-being of its inhabitants, he explained.
"Proper vastu means proper direction, dimension and placement of the rooms," Worland said. "The orientation of the house is critical. It (the front of the house) faces due east or due north."
Like astrology, vastu architecture is based in a belief that solar, lunar and planetary influences affect life on earth. Proponents of the philosophy believe the strongest influence comes from the sun, which generates different qualities of energy as it travels east to west. Ancient Vedic formulas describe how houses should be designed so activities in the house correspond with the influences of the sun's energy.
While not as widely known as its Asian cousin, feng shui, which also sees a correlation between design and well-being, vestu architect is gaining in popularity.
The 200-person Maharishi Vedic City in Iowa consists entirely of Vedic-style buildings, while the dozen or so Vedic-style homes near Cook and Worland in Barona Mesa, just south of San Diego Country Estates, make up the largest cluster of the style in Southern California, Cook said.
Cook and her husband, Joel, moved into their custom home three years ago. Like Worland, they practice Transcendental Meditation, introduced to the West in the 1960s by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who is helping resurrect Vedic design worldwide. The maharishi plans to build 3,000 "peace palaces" in the Vedic style to teach meditation and other programs around the globe. An 18,000-square-foot palace opened in August in Dallas.
"It works because the orientation of the house, relative to the sun's axis, has a very powerful influence," Worland said of the Vedic design principles. "Also, the placement of the room and each of the corners of the buildings, and what you do in those areas, will affect the whole house."
While associated with Hinduism, Vedic design principles are not tied to any one religion, Joel Cook said.
"The Vedic is a body of knowledge that has been adopted by Hinduism as a source of knowledge," he said. "It's just the basic ways of looking at the laws of nature, how to live and ways to stay healthy."
Joel Cook, an optometrist with a practice in Rancho Penasquitos, sees vastu architecture not as mysticism, but as a set of sound principles.
"The idea is there's a best way to do everything," he said. He also points to studies done by Dr. Alarik Aranander, director of Iowa's Brain Research Institute, whose studies suggest the mind is more orderly when facing east.
Worland's home is based on a traditional Eastern design, while the Cooks' home is an elegant, Craftsman-style home with hardwood floors and natural-finish wood throughout.
"It could be modular," Joel Cook said about how Vedic principles can apply to any style. "It could be a trailer. It could be any old thing you want."
The Cooks' home is crowned with a kalash, an ornate Hindu vase, but there is little else to indicate the house was built following Vedic principles.
But even people unfamiliar with Vedic design might notice that something feels different about the house, the Cooks said.
"We find people who come to visit us like to linger," Joel Cook said. "When they come for dinner, we practically shoo them out the door."
According to literature from the Holland-based Maharishi Vedic Architecture (www.VedicArchitecture.org), an incorrectly placed entrance can lead to "inauspicious, negative influences for everyone." Anger, aggression, constant fear, poverty, chronic disease and lack of vitality and success also can result from incorrectly placed entrances, according to the group.
The dining room should be where digestion will be most healthy, the study should be where intellect will be most lively and the living room should be where social life will enjoy the greatest support, according to Maharishi Vedic Architecture. A booklet created by the group shows the dining room to the south, the living room to the west and the study to the north.
The Cooks' front door faces true east in accordance with Vedic principles, which also call for clear north-to-south and east-to-west sight lines. There should be no activity at the center of the house, or the brahmastan. Accordingly, the Cooks have placed a small table there, holding an orchid-filled vase, bathed in sunlight from an overhead skylight.
Southern entrances should be avoided, so the Cooks have surrounded their south-facing patio with a fence that has no gate.
A desk used for paperwork near the kitchen and another in the study for personal finances both face north, the direction for prosperity.
Certain elements also must correspond with specific compass directions. The fire element, for instance, should be the southeast corner of the house, which is where the Cooks built their kitchen.
The earth element in the southwest corner represents stability and restfulness, so that is where the Cooks placed their master bedroom. The northwest corner of the house represents the air element, so it was a good choice for the guest bedroom, as guests move in and out of the house.
The water element should be in the north, where the Cooks built their exercise pool, and the space element should be in the northeast corner, where the couple built their meditation room. Even their toilet faces north.
The Cooks say the results of following the guidelines have been more than worth it. They moved to Barona Mesa three years ago after living uncomfortably in a conventional house in Mission Hills.
"I feel better," Joel Cook said. "More secure. More aware of the seasons and where you are on the earth."
"I think my health has really improved," Cathleen Cook said. "I had a lingering depression. There was no reason for me to be unhappy, but I was unhappy."
Worland, an architect and engineer for 22 years, is so convinced of the merits of Vastu principles that he will not build a conventional house.
"Before, I used to design whatever, up until around 1985," Worland said. "But then I realized that this vastu design is kind of like a building code for good fortune and prosperity. If I'm not designing something that's properly vastu, I'm designing something that might not be best for my client. The architect or designer actually has the ability to design good fortune for people."

Prosperity Thinking
You have heard the saying, “If You Think You Can, You Can. If You Think You Can’t—You’re Right.” All thoughts are creative—thus be careful what you think. If you think of all the things that you want—you will create it. If you think of all the things that could go wrong you are attracting it.
Within each of us lives a loud green eyed monster—a.k.a. naysayer—that keeps us small, scared and under tight control. This green eyed monster’s secret weapon is scarcity-based thinking, steeped in feelings of neediness, lack and fear. It’s all a sham. Like the great and terrible Oz behind the curtain, this part is just a small quivering fool.
Reframe to the Positive Rather than heed the naysayer, put your negative thoughts in a bright corner where you can easily see your negative thinking for what it is and learn how you are tricked by your own thoughts. Commit yourself to recognize your naysayer language and shift your self-talk from scarcity to prosperity thinking.
Reframe this. . . To this
I don’t want . . . I want. . . I intend . . . I
will. . .
I can’t afford . . . I choose. . . I will. . . I
can. . .
I’m struggling with . . . My opportunity now is. . . I
can. . .
What if I can’t . . . I envision . . . I will
persevere. . . I will. . .
The Universal Law of Attraction affirms that like attracts like. Prosperity thinking attracts more of what we want. Self-deprecating and scarcity thoughts set up negatively charged energy that attracts what we don’t want. This Law is Universal because it does not matter who you are, where you live, what your religious beliefs are, what year you were born...the Law is true for everyone equally. It is as true as the Law of Gravity.

VASTHU SASTRA
by T. SELVA
LAST week, I was in India, that land rich with ancient and mystical sciences. Mumbai, where I was, is the capital of Maharashtra state and the city for Vasthu Sastra.
The mansions and bungalows in Malabar Hill where the Bollywood movie stars live are carefully built to incorporate the science of harmonious dwelling. Advertisements of houses for sale or rent in major dailies like The Times of India and Hindustan Times usually carry a footnote that properties are Vasthu-compliant – they have to, otherwise, say real estate agents, no one would buy or rent anything!
Besides covering a maritime conference in Mumbai, I wanted to enhance my techniques on meditation.
In India, many people meditate to seek solutions to all kinds of illnesses and problems because they believe that human beings are born with a great capacity for self-healing.
Meditation can help reduce allergies, anxiety, backache, depression, headaches (including migraines) and it can help alleviate sexual dysfunction.
Indeed, research has revealed that meditation seems to boost health in general. Studies have shown that the meditative state is more restful than sleep even.
And that is the key point: Our minds are usually working at full speed because of work pressure, the rush to meet deadlines, targets, visions – all in the name of material gain. Meditation, however, can calm the mind. It aims to unite the mind in a single thought and free it of anxiety.
If you want to take up meditation, you must prepare mentally and physically so that your body, mind and spirit are in harmony. This is because meditation requires you to be free from the pressures of the mind and the desires of the body.
Why meditate, what are its benefits?
Meditation can connect one with universal energies and help one attain moksha (liberation).
By practising regular meditation, one attains self-realisation and divine manifestation in one’s own heart.
One can not only heal oneself but also energise the entire world if one is united in consciousness with other meditators.
Meditation alleviates stress and strain and bestows peace, tranquillity and bliss. It also develops concentration, health and self-confidence.
The highlight of any meditative experience is if one experiences a white light – this indicates the highest vibration of energy. This light translates as love, and when an individual experiences this status, he or she is filling up with love.
How to meditate?
According to Vasthu Sastra, the auspicious location for meditation is the north-east, the spiritual quadrant. Once you have located this direction, sit with the legs comfortably folded and eyes closed for several minutes.
Some people may require a tutor, or a guru, to guide them, but, in most cases, any individual can connect with the energy of the universe without any help.
Meditation is the art of focusing the mind upon a chosen thought to remove impurities. Some people do this by chanting mantras, while others do it by consciously concentrating on one thought, or on silence.
Meditation is best done after a shower in the morning or in the evening, or at sunrise or sunset. Ideally, you should meditate daily. The meditative state allows nerves and tired muscles to relax, and will calm heart rates and ease blood pressure. It’s so restful that you’ll want to do it daily!

Seven steps to meditation
1. Find a quiet spot.
2. Relax and sit comfortably; lie down if you want to.
3. Play soft, relaxing music or chant a mantra.
4. Close your eyes, drop your shoulders.
5. Breathe slowly and deeply, four or five times.
6. Think of something to focus on. Do not think of worldly matters. If your mind wanders, return to your focus.
7. Sit still for about 10 to 20 minutes, inhaling and exhaling gently and regularly.

Good Health
In steps as in walking. Yes, Walking. While walking this morning, I kept the thought of my topic for my next article uppermost in my mind. As I turned the corner onto my street, the thought came to me—write an article about the health benefits of walking.
Walking at 5 a.m. year around in Phoenix Arizona, a.k.a. ‘The Valley’ is lovely—the majority of people are sleeping and the temperature is still cool. I remember the days I walked in South Dakota when the temperature was 50 below zero including the wind chill. I lived in New York and New Jersey metro area 28 years where the temperature reaches minus zero on occasion. Thus, walking in Arizona year around is a dream come true, even though the temperature reaches 110-112 (or higher) several days in the summer—5 a.m. is a cool 70-80 degrees.
According to researchers, if you walk 30-45 minutes twice a day, you will avoid heart disease, kidney disease, stress related diseases, diabetes or any metabolism problems. Don’t forget to hydrate while you walk—especially in the summer.
I heard those moans, groans and screams from here. Who has 60-90 minutes a day to invest in walking?” OK. Rephrase that. Who has 20-30 years to invest in poor health? That is the average number of years the majority of people suffer with various life threatening diseases. I know I don’t. I want to keep on until I am 110 and then decide when I will leave this earth plane. OK, that is me. You can live a healthy life into your 90’s and not die from a disease. You can die because you don’t want to be on this earth plane anymore by simply going to sleep and not waking up.
"Twenty-nine million Americans are in medical debt," says Jennifer Edwards of the Commonwealth Fund, a private foundation that supports research on health and social issues. A recent Commonwealth study defined those in medical debt as paying bills to health care providers or having large credit card debt or loans against their homes related to medical costs.
"Of those, 70% were insured when they got the health care that put them in debt, and nearly half had used up all or most of their savings," Edwards said.
I enjoy an early morning walk; the air smells fresher after a few hours with less air pollution and noise. Not to mention I enjoy seeing raccoon, rabbit, coyote, skunk, etc. scurrying to their hide-out for the day. They look at me as if to say, ‘What are you doing here?’
You can multi-task while walking—meditation, creative thinking, or soul thinking.
Now that you know from research that 30 to 45 minutes of walk twice a day will make a huge impact on your health or disease—you decide. If you can't walk 30 to 45 minutes every day even 30 minutes three or four days a week is beneficial.
Wow! Knowledge is power! You are empowered—it is your decision—and no one can take it away from you. Now is the time. Just Do It!!

The healing power of gems and mantras
by Wendy Vasicek, PGA
Before we can understand the influence of planetary gems and other upayes we first have to understand the nature of our universe. The Sages teach us that the vibration (primordial sound) of the universe is in constant flux - the beautiful celestial song of the universe is unique to each living being.
Bija (meditation) mantras correspond to the specific sound or vibration of the Universe at the time (and place) of our birth and its taught that meditating with the primordial mantra corresponding to Moon's nakshatra guides us effortlessly back to our own essential nature. Seeing the essential nature of the Universe as pulsating sound or vibration we can more readily understand the relationship between precious gems and their ruling planets. The vibration of Ruby is non-different to that of Sun. Pearl to Moon, Red Coral to Mars, Emerald to Mercury, Yellow Sapphire to Jupiter, Diamond to Venus, Blue Sapphire to Saturn etc..
Our own unique _expression of the universe is present in every living cell, every strand of DNA - our genetic (cosmic) blueprint; and today modern science is proving that this genetic blueprint can indeed be manipulated. Gene therapy is the latest medical approach to treat, cure, and ultimately prevent disease by changing the _expression of a person's genes. To the best of my understanding a new gene is inserted into the body via vehicles called vectors (gene carriers), which deliver therapeutic genes to the person's cells. Knowing that this is being done today to treat disease it seems ridiculous to still believe that remedial measures cannot, in the same way, lessen the impact of planetary afflictions. It stands to reason that, if a particular vibration within our DNA is "out of tune" (afflicted or weak), then wearing the corresponding gem of perfect quality and therefore perfect vibration will improve that vibrational quality within us?
In this same way mantras specific to the planets help to lessen the effects of our karma - its the vibration of the sound that has the effect - moreso than the meaning of the mantra. Gems of course are not available for everyone and by the grace of God we have been given the mantras corresponding to each planet. If recited in the prescribed manner they are as effective as gems. The difference between the two remedies is that one requires money while the other requires effort and dedication to complete the required number of repetitions.
Sages declare; "The Sun moves in me, the Stars move in me, the Moon rises in me, the whole Universe is in me. Those who know this great truth cry in ecstasy, *AHAM BRAHMASMI*, I am the universe, I am the existence."

Four Words of Success
Your Success begins with a positive ATTITUDE.
I will repeat that!
Your Success begins with a positive ATTITUDE.
That's the good news. Here is the 'other' news.
A negative ATTITUDE creates failure.
Do you get down on yourself—judging, comparing, criticizing, etc.—then your confidence drops, and you feel stuck or defeated—unable to effect what you desire.
Are your thoughts negative and you talk yourself out of things you know you deserve?
Our thoughts, imagination, and our behaviors determine our present and our future.
In my coaching practice, many people come to me because they want to start or have started a business. The major reason people fail to get a business off the ground or grow their business is because, they focus on the 'strategies' of that industry, not on the engine that drives the business—THEMSELVES.
All the strategies about how to build a business are meaningless, if your attitude, thoughts and self image prevent your success.
That point is very important.
The fastest way to change your world—business or personal--is to change yourself first.
That is a Universal Law, which does not change no matter how much you pretend, argue or contradict it.
The four words you need to believe and affirm in your attitude will propel you into your success without fail. The words are: 'IT CAN BE DONE.'
The precursor of IT CAN BE DONE is: 'I CAN and I WILL.'
Create and hang onto that fire of energy, that burning DESIRE that runs deep inside you will move you to achieve your highest desires.
Begin right now to approach each task, idea or challenge with the four words: 'IT CAN BE DONE.’ You will see astonishing results. Remember the saying—“If you think you can you can. If you think you can’t you’re right.” Author unknown
